What’s the deal with Mazda’s E-CVT... worth it?

So I’ve been reading about Mazda’s E-CVT for their hybrids, and it sounds pretty interesting. It’s supposed to improve efficiency and durability compared to the usual CVTs. Anyone driving one? How’s it holding up for you?

I’ve got a hybrid Mazda, and honestly, the E-CVT feels way smoother than a regular CVT. Plus, no weird droning sound!

That’s good to know. I’ve heard that regular CVTs can be annoying with that sound. How’s the reliability been so far?

@Drew
So far, so good! I’ve had mine for about a year, and no issues at all. Feels solid.

@Drew
Same here. I’ve got the same setup, and it’s been flawless. No maintenance headaches so far.

The thing about infinite gear ratios is actually pretty cool. I never thought I’d notice the difference, but it’s so smooth when accelerating.

Yeah, that’s what sold me on it too. It feels like the car just glides, especially at higher speeds.

I read that the E-CVT is more durable since it doesn’t use a belt system. Anyone know if that’s true?

Yeah, that’s right. It’s more of a planetary gear setup, which is why it’s less likely to have issues compared to belt-driven CVTs.

That makes sense. Those belt-driven ones are usually what people complain about.

I wonder how it compares to Toyota’s hybrid system. Anyone tried both?

I’ve driven both, and they’re pretty close in terms of smoothness. But Mazda’s feels a bit sportier, IMO.
