Never thought I’d let go of my blue beauty or move on from Audi after owning four VAG cars back-to-back (14 S4, 18 A4, 20 GTI, and 19 A5 SB). But at 46, my back wasn’t loving the low seating anymore. I needed something higher off the ground and with a bit more space.
Back in the early 2000s, I sold BMWs when the inline-six was all the rage, so the CX-70 and CX-90 naturally caught my attention. Sure, I read through the issues some people mentioned here, but my buying experience was great. Knowing a few GMs in the car business helped, too.
I didn’t need a third row but wanted more room than what the Q5, GV-70, or X3 offered since they’re all about the same size as my A5 SB. While those models may have higher-end touches in some areas, I’m honestly impressed with how much value this car offers for the price.
When I drove it, I was surprised—it sounded great, wasn’t too heavy or too light, and had that balanced feel. It’s no M40 or GV70 3.5, but it reminded me of how older X5s felt—raw, a bit noisy, but still fun to drive and capable.
So, I brought home a 2025 Polymetal/Black S Premium. So far, so good! My fiancée’s especially happy she doesn’t have to climb down into the A5 anymore.
Getting out of low cars with a sore back is the worst! I made the same switch recently and got a CX-70 PHEV. It’s not perfect, but it’s been really nice so far.
I’ve got a 2022 CX-9 Carbon Edition, and every time I drive it, I’m impressed. It’s packed with features, looks great, and for a small four-cylinder, the acceleration surprises me. Mazda’s like the new Nissan—close to Toyota quality but for less money. Plus, it’s more fun to drive. Reminds me of my old Maximas!
