It’s starting to peel off. This is a common issue with Mazda screens from that generation. It happens regardless of temperature, as I noticed it at the end of summer. The only fix is replacing some parts. It’s not too expensive, but it’s up to you if it’s worth fixing or just leaving it.
@Blake
You can live with it for a while, but it will spread over time. Mine started in the bottom right corner, and now the cracks cover about 50% of the screen. It took 8 years for the cracks to appear and 2 more years before it became unbearable. I have a replacement screen ready and am just waiting for better weather to fix it.
@Mai
I’m at about 50-75% coverage now, I just ignore it.
Who would’ve thought touchscreens in cars would cause problems after just a decade? I miss the old analog systems.

I’ve had cars with touchscreens for over 10 years, and I’ve only had this issue with my Mazda. They did cover the problem, though, when I pointed out that it wasn’t normal wear and tear.
@Cody
Hm, that’s fair!

I definitely miss the old systems too.
It’s delamination. Unfortunately, the screen needs to be replaced.
You can find this part on Amazon, eBay, or AliExpress. Look for YouTube tutorials; it’s a simple fix.
It’s just the digitizer. You can get a cheap replacement on Amazon and swap it out yourself.
I hate this problem, these screens are terrible. They call them spider cracks. If you’re under warranty, the dealership might replace it. If not, the affordable option is to DIY or replace the digitizer screen.
Look into any special warranty for this. Not sure how long it’s covered, but it might still apply. It’s definitely not just normal wear. Mazda should’ve had a recall for this issue. Edit: Never mind, the warranty is 84 months.
Just a heads up, it will spread. Mine’s already halfway across the screen. You can replace it now or later, but you’ll probably want to replace it sooner rather than waiting like I did.
