Rear Facing Car Seat in 2021 CX-5?

How well will it fit?

It really depends on the specific seat you have. We use the Rava rear-facing seat behind my driver’s seat, and it fits great (I’m 6’2”). For my wife, we have the Pipa behind her seat (5’7”), and it’s a bit tight for me to sit in front of it, but she’s comfortable. The Graco Modes 3 Lite DLX fits behind me just fine too, but it’s a smaller infant seat than the Pipa.

We have the Graco Extend to Fit 3-in-1, which I think is designed to be one of the slimmest front-to-back options. I’m 5’9” but leggy, so I was concerned about the fit.

Are you planning to put it behind the driver or passenger seat? We have the Graco SnugRide 35 Lite Elite seat, and my wife sits behind me when I drive. I’m the same height, and I’m still comfortable. I moved the seat up a little and stopped wearing boots for now since they add extra height. The front passenger seat is fine too. With a stroller in the back, storage can get tight. I have the SlimFit 3-in-1 in my Mazda3, and it seems fine as well.

@Bran
Behind the passenger seat would work for us; we probably won’t use my vehicle much as a family commuter. I had the seat all the way back while test driving and ideally wanted another half inch of leg space, but that wasn’t possible. I could make do with the space, but I was worried about fitting the car seat behind the passenger seat and whether anyone could sit in the car with us since my seat will be as far back as it goes.

@Paz
There should be enough room. The real issue is storage space for shopping or road trips if you have a stroller.

Good to know, thanks! I’m coming from a 2016 Grand Cherokee, so I’m losing a lot of cargo space and panicking a bit, lol.

@Paz
I’d recommend getting a Bugaboo Butterfly or something similar for travel to save space. Our Mockingbird stroller takes up a lot of room, and I prefer to keep the cargo cover on to hide everything.

If it’s a bulky seat, your front seat passenger will hate it. That’s why we moved up to a CX-90.
