Mazda dealer said the car was there… drove an hour just to find out it was sold

Mazda dealerships are the worst at communicating. I’ve had my CX-5 for over a decade, and every time I need something, I end up frustrated with their service. Thanks for letting me vent.

Once, I was test-driving a used Miata, and midway through, the salesman told me they’d already sold it. Then they tried to upsell me a brand-new one. Such a waste of time.

Wait, are you saying you were driving a car that someone else had already bought? How does that even happen?

@Dalen
Yep, they said it was still waiting to be shipped to the buyer. I even saw it listed on their website a week later.

Driving an hour is pretty normal where I live. If you didn’t put a deposit down, you can’t really expect the car to be there. Cars are selling fast these days.

Exactly. People make appointments and don’t show up all the time. If you don’t put down a deposit, they’re not obligated to hold the car. And deposits at Mazda dealerships are refundable, so there’s no harm in doing it.

This is giving me Family Truckster vibes!

The same thing happened to me once, but they gave me $2,800 off a different car, and I only had to wait a week.

This happened to me at a Honda dealership before I switched to Mazda. Never again.

Mazda 112 in Patchogue is just as bad. Try going upstate or to Connecticut for better service.
