Just Got a New Mazda MX-30 for £17,000… First Mazda in Over 10 Years

I recently bought a brand new Mazda MX-30 for £17,000. Even though it has mixed reviews, this car fits my needs perfectly. Most of my driving is within 5 miles, so having a small, efficient car makes sense. On the 90-mile drive home from the dealer, it managed 3.7kWh with the heating on.

It’s the Prime edition with a heads-up display, adaptive cruise control, reverse camera, CarPlay, and those cool suicide doors, which I haven’t had since my old 2006 RX8. I also love the touchscreen climate control and that there are physical buttons for the sound system.

Looking at the UK EV market, nothing else came close in price. The dealer gave me over £11k off the list price to meet their 2024 sales target. Plus, it comes with a 3-year warranty and breakdown cover, so it was an easy choice for us.

This car looks great! Seems perfect for city driving. Do you have another car for longer trips? I heard Mazda used to offer a free gas car rental for a few days a year to help with the range issue.

Thanks! Yeah, this one’s mainly for city driving. For longer trips, I use my Peugeot 408 PHEV. No one told me about the rental option, but if it’s available, I’d definitely take it!

@Tatum
Makes sense. I’m not sure if the rental program still exists, but it was offered in North America when the MX-30 first came out.

@Tatum
I used to work at a Mazda dealer, and that rental program was only for North America. Good choice on the car though! We got one as a second car for my wife. If it fits your needs, it’s amazing. But if you need it for long trips, it’s not so great. As a second car, though, it’s perfect.

@Toryn
Exactly! I don’t need a car with a 500-mile range or crazy speed. We’re close to London, so for now, I don’t have to pay the congestion charge, which saves me £10 each trip. We also have charging at home, so range isn’t a problem.

Wow, that’s a huge discount!

Mazda wins again with deals like this.

£17k is such a good price! I paid £15k for my 2018 Toyota C-HR. I didn’t think Mazda had deals like this, wish I had known!

Is the version with the small rotary engine still available? I see these for sale at good prices, but the electric range feels too small for me.

Yeah, it’s still available.

I got a fully loaded red Makoto, 1.5 years old with 10k miles, for €18,500. Yours seems like an even better deal!

We picked up a 1-year-old Makoto with only 700 km from a dealer in Germany for €22,000. I love the car despite its low range. Sadly, the fully electric MX-30 is discontinued. But the bright side is Mazda dealers might have great deals now.

That’s crazy cheap. I bet Mazda didn’t plan on selling these at Dacia prices. Maybe they’re clearing them out before the new Chinese EV models take over.

How did you get it so cheap? The cheapest one I see in Croatia is €38,000.

The dealer needed to hit their sales target for 2024, so they were eager to make a deal. I just had to complete the purchase before the end of the year, and they held the car until I was ready to pick it up.

That’s a great deal. Congrats!

Wow, that’s impressive.

I really like these cars, especially with how cheap they are now. I wanted an MX-5 more, though. The MX-30 is such an interesting car, even if the range isn’t great.

Yeah, it definitely stands out with its design and suicide doors. Even the base model has a lot of features.
