Maybe it was a test drive car and only got 8.5k miles around town. Did the seller give any reason for selling it? (Though they might not be truthful.) I watched a knowledgeable video about Japanese cars: https://youtu.be/twTd0ce1Pvs?si=DluuWmsZMuGdJwrW. This SUV looks fun to own. Plus, it’s still under factory warranty, so it’s quite new. I had a Mazda CX-5 2017, and it was amazing! Only downside was the engine wasn’t powerful enough for the SUV size. I had the 2.0L version with 165hp. It was made in Japan, which says a lot.
Maybe a former luxury car owner bought it, but couldn’t put up with the bugs. It’s like what happens with Teslas bought by former BMW/Merc/Audi owners.
If you really need a car that big, go for it. It looks good. But if you don’t need something that large, maybe get something smaller.
Considering the discounts on new models and the low financing rates Mazda offers, a new one would cost about the same overall.
As one of the early PHEV CX-90 owners, I think there are better cars for this price. I’ve already shared a lot about it on this forum. The old glitches keep getting fixed, but new ones keep popping up.
@Chan
Sorry to hear that. I’m looking at the CX-90 because the preowned ones are so cheap. I could buy a 5-year-old Honda Pilot or Highlander in a lower trim, or get a new 2024 CX-90 for nearly the same price. It’s crazy.
You have the bumper-to-bumper warranty, so just check it for any loopholes, and take it to a reputable mechanic. If everything checks out, go for it. No car these days is perfect. You can’t expect 1990s Toyota reliability with all the modern tech. And remember, thousands of these cars are on the road, but you only hear about the bad experiences from a few people.
