Just traded in my 2022 CX-5 Signature for a 2022 MX-30 Premium Plus with only 11k miles. Needed an EV for local drives and the occasional 50-60 mile trip. So far, it fits perfectly with my lifestyle.
Hope you got a sweet deal on it.

I did! Paid well below market value since it’s not a super popular car.

How’s it treating you so far? I tested one and really liked it.
@Dylan
Loving it! Great for city driving. The regenerative braking is awesome, but I prefer still having to use the brake pedal—one-pedal driving isn’t my thing. The interior is super comfortable, the sound system is top-notch, and I can even fit my Costco haul. Happy with the value and the savings.
Mazda makes EVs? That’s news to me!

Yeah, but they were only sold in California for a couple of years, if I remember right. Correct me if I’m off base.

You’re right. Only 570 units were sold in California.
@Amar
Just to confirm, you mean California and not Canada, right? Because up here in Canada, they’re still available and can be configured on the Mazda site.

Yes, California! That’s pretty cool they’re still around in Canada.

Mazda already stopped making them because the range is pathetic.
@Paris
They only made it to comply with California’s regulations. Never really meant to be a hit.

Yeah, they aimed for a car that’s more eco-friendly over its lifespan, even with a small battery. But it doesn’t compete well in markets like the US or Australia, where people need more range.
@Blakely
It’s great for short commutes, though.

Actually, it sells decently in Europe. Not just a California thing!

I saw a bunch in Japan when I visited last year.
@Bailey
Same here. Just got back from Japan, and I saw quite a few. In LA, I’ve only seen a handful, though.

It does make for an interesting story—Mazda had to make an EV to sell their regular cars in California. Cool city car with RX-8 style doors. Otherwise, it’s just a not-so-great EV with cool looks.

Even in Europe, it’s mostly a compliance car. Hard to understand why anyone would buy it without heavy subsidies.

It’s still for sale in Canada? Weird. And by the way, I’m not American, so stop assuming that.
