Got into my 2018 Mazda 6 after work and noticed these weird marks on the infotainment screen, mostly on the middle-to-right side. It’s been a hot day, and the car was parked outside, so I’m guessing it’s sun or heat damage. But I’ve parked in the sun before, and this hasn’t happened. Has anyone else had this happen? Is this common?

If the screen’s toast, at least it went down in style.

Haha, yeah, music’s still working, thankfully. Just hard to see the screen now. I’ll manage until I sort out a fix.

Had to include that in the photo while the car was still running! Hopefully, more masterpieces are on the way.
At least your music taste is top-notch!
This happens a lot with 3rd gen Mazda3 models. It looks like the screen is starting to delaminate. If left alone, it can get worse with spider cracks or ghost touch issues.
I’d recommend replacing the screen. If you go to Mazda for an OEM replacement, it’ll be expensive. Might be worth considering an aftermarket upgrade instead.
@Luca
Thanks for the heads-up! I looked into upgrading to an Android Auto unit last year but held off because of the cost. Maybe now’s the time to fix and upgrade all at once.

You could just replace the front digitizer and glass. You can find it online for about $20. It’s a cheap fix but takes some effort since you’ll need to remove the screen. If you want Android Auto, you can buy the OEM retrofit kit, but it doesn’t include a new screen.
@Tristan
Appreciate the tip! I’ll check that out.
@Luca
No need to replace the whole display. There are cheaper ways to fix it.
Another vote for Opeth! Can’t help with the screen, though.
For anyone wondering, these marks just showed up today after parking in the sun. It’s been hot, but I’ve parked in the sun plenty of times before without an issue. What could’ve caused it this time?
