I hope they roll this out to the entire lineup. A green Mazda3 Turbo Hatch would be amazing, especially with the terracotta leather option.

I doubt it will extend beyond the CX-50. This seems to be a convenience choice since the CX-50 and Toyota Corolla Cross share a paint shop at the Alabama plant.
@Finley
Does that mean the paint quality will be good?

Not really.
Most modern cars at this price range have poor paint quality. I don’t get why people think Mazda has worse paint than brands like GM, Honda, Toyota, or Kia.
Historically, Toyota has had thin paint as well.
Subaru is a prime example of bad paint that’s worse than similar-priced options.

I love Subaru, but you’re spot on. Their paint is thin and chips easily. This has been an issue for over 20 years.
I also agree that many brands have generally poor paint quality. The amount of orange peel on vehicles costing $45K and up is ridiculous.
@Leif
Thanks for the info, I didn’t know about Subaru paint.
@Leif
I also find it frustrating when autobody shops return cars with such poor finishes that they look like golf balls from a distance.

I had my front bumper cover replaced and painted black after an accident about 10 years ago, and I was shocked at how bad the job was. This was done at one of the top-rated shops in town.
I asked them how they felt about sending a job like that back to a customer. They didn’t seem concerned until I pointed out the difference in finish between the bumper cover and the untouched fender. The bumper looked like a rattle can job. They ended up redoing it.
@Leif
That sounds like my experience. I complained directly to them about the poor quality, pointed out the issues like fish-eyes and orange peel, and insisted they repaint my fender. The second time it was acceptable, maybe a 6/10, but now after 10 years, I hardly notice it.
@Leif
Unfortunately, orange peel is a widespread issue with most manufacturers these days. If you want to see really thin paint, check out some recent BMWs. They have chips that make it look like they’re using the thinnest paint possible.
I like green, but this isn’t my shade.
@Sam
The optional white paint on my 2013 CX-5 still looks new, even in the rust belt. You just need to wash it often and wax it every year.

Or they could add it to the MX-5 to enhance the roadster look.
@Ming
I’m considering trading my ND1 for an ND3. If they offer this color, I’m sold!
@Ming
Just imagine that green with a tan interior

+1
I’d love to see this on the MX-5
@Charlie
No, that’s not okay. I just bought an MX-5. It can’t be!

And with a tan soft top too
