Hey all, here’s my 2022 Mazda3 hatch carbon edition. I’ve had it since I bought it new in 2022. While I was reaching for the hood latch, I noticed a little button tucked away. I checked the owner’s manual, but there’s nothing about it. Can someone here tell me what it’s for? Thanks!
Pretty sure that’s the eject seat button.

This joke never gets old.
Might be a tracker the dealership installed in case they ever need to repo the car.

It’s probably part of a KARR security system. My car has the same button, but it’s deactivated because I didn’t pay the $2,000 they wanted for it. My dealer puts it on all their cars.
@Avery
Yeah, they use KARR for tracking inventory and then try to sell it to you at a high price.

I don’t think they use it for inventory tracking. That doesn’t sound right.
@Zev
I used to work for CDKGlobal. The KARR system connects to dealership inventory systems. I even worked on software that helped dealers manage parking for cars. It’s definitely used for more than just security.
@Avery
$2,000 for that? Total rip-off.

If it’s not bothering me, I guess I’ll just leave it alone for now.

That works, but you could ask them to remove it since they didn’t inform you about it. Mazda already includes security features, so this might be unnecessary.
Looks like an aftermarket button. Try following the wires.

I tried, but the wires disappear pretty quickly, and I lose track of where they go.
This isn’t a factory-installed button. The dealer probably added it.
It’s most likely part of a dealer-installed security system, like KARR. Mine has the same setup, but I didn’t pay for it, so it’s inactive. The button looks just like yours.
Check out this other thread I found about the same button. It might help you figure it out.
