Mazda 2 2009 mods… What do you think?

I’m new to cars and just got my first one (Mazda 2, 19 years old). I was thinking about making a few mods for looks, nothing too crazy. What do you all think about painting the brake calipers metallic pink? Any advice?

Is this a question or just a thought?

Oh, I just realized my original text isn’t showing up here :sweat_smile:

So, I wanted to ask if painting my brake calipers metallic pink is a good idea or not. I just got my first car (19 f) and would love to do some mods but want to keep it simple. Opinions, please?

That’s a clean ride! I’d start with a nice set of tires; it’s the best mod for improving the car. Don’t touch the suspension though. It’s solid the way it is. If you want to add to the exterior, maybe check out rear spoilers or a front lip. But definitely consider tires first!

@Keaton
Thanks for the advice! I’ll look into black rims too. And I’m definitely excited to paint those calipers! :grin:

Be careful with black rims though, everyone does that. For a blue car, I’d try white rims. It looks super sharp. Or, if you want a classic look, go for gold rims like the Subaru WRX. Also, when painting the calipers, keep in mind that your rear brakes are drums, so painting just the front might not look the best.

@Keaton
Can you paint the drum brakes or not? I like the idea of having some color under my rims. But I’m also worried about white rims getting dirty fast!

Yeah, you can paint the drums if you like the look. But, yeah, white rims get dirty quickly. It’s not a big deal if you have a hose though. If you want a cleaner option, gunmetal grey, bronze, or gold rims look great too. Black rims just aren’t my style; they look like hubcaps fell off. You can also check out online wheel simulators to see what combinations look best!

@Keaton
Thanks! I’m thinking of going for white or maybe grey. Gold would be cool, but not really the look I want for my car.

Awesome, good luck with it! :+1:

My suggestions would be window tints, all-weather floor mats, and a dash cam. After that, get a CarPlay stereo for a nice upgrade.

Thanks a lot! Great suggestions!

LED interior lights, a dash cam, oil-based undercoating, and new rims/tires. These are great first mods.

Nice wheels with quality tires (try the CrossClimate 2’s for all seasons), a bigger spoiler for the rear, and a Racingbeat exhaust would be my top picks.

This guy has probably done the most with this chassis. His cars are more about performance, but his tips could help you too! Check out this link: https://youtube.com/@hiroshimaspirit?si=X-UJfW-Vvd-zbvRO

@Drew
Thanks! I’ve seen his channel before, but I’ll check it out more now.

My first suggestion would be to delete the Mazda 2.

I don’t agree. The Mazda 2 is a lot of fun to drive, even if it’s not the fastest. You can floor it without breaking the law, and it’s still a blast. A buddy of mine spent 1k on sticky tires and a suspension kit, and it completely changed the car.
