Anyone know about breaking in the 2.5 Turbo?

It’s a general practice with most modern engines. I’ve owned over 70 cars in 25 years, so I’ve picked up a few habits.

But if it’s common, why doesn’t the manual mention it? All it says is to avoid racing or full-throttle starts.

@Oaklee
The manual keeps it vague for simplicity, but Mazda’s six-speed won’t let you hit high RPMs without pushing it hard anyway.

The first 20 miles are the most important for seating the rings. After that, avoid steady speeds for long periods, don’t let it idle too much, and try to stay under 4k RPM for the first 600 miles.

It already had 51 miles when I picked it up, and I might’ve hit 4k a few times in the two weeks I’ve had it.

Don’t stress over it. If it’s not burning oil, you’re good. I’d recommend an oil change at 1,000 miles just for peace of mind.

You’ll be fine as long as you don’t redline it. Enjoy the car a bit, just don’t do anything wild until you’ve hit 1,000 or 2,000 miles.

That Quartz color with the spoiler looks fantastic! I just got one in ceramic with red interior. The fuel usage is a bit noticeable compared to my 2021 non-turbo, though.
