Anyone know a plug and play CarPlay screen for my 2015 CX5?

I want to swap out the screen in my 2015 CX5 Grand Touring so I can use Apple CarPlay. I’m not great with car electronics, so I’m looking for something easy to install. Any ideas?

Check out crutchfield.com. They have everything you’d need, and you can even give them a call for advice.

Here’s the link for Crutchfield: Crutchfield.com.

Crutchfield is the way to go. I installed the Sony AX6000 in my 2013, and it’s been great. The install kit makes it easier, but keep in mind this Sony unit is wireless CarPlay only.

One tip: adjust settings like auto door lock timing with your OEM radio before swapping it out. Some features can’t be changed after the new unit is installed. Good luck!

I just ordered a setup for our 2015 CX5 Touring from Crutchfield yesterday. They include everything needed for installation, and it’s about as close to plug-and-play as it gets.

One thing to watch for: most aftermarket screens need to connect to the parking brake wire to ensure you’re not using certain features while driving. Some brands like Kenwood just need the wire grounded, which YouTube can guide you on.

Another option is a secondary screen that connects to your current radio via Bluetooth, like the Carpuride models.

We installed one in an older Honda. It wasn’t super easy—took about 2 hours—but it works well now.

I got a Chinese brand screen, but honestly, if you’re keeping the car for more than 2 years, go with Sony. The cheaper ones tend to have weak amps built-in, which can hurt sound quality.

The Sony XAV-AX6000 is a solid option, as someone else mentioned. I got the Crutchfield kit, and while it requires taking apart the dash, it’s manageable. Here’s my write-up about it: 2014-2015 Mazda 6 Sony XAV-AX6000 Install and Review – Dustin Rue. Adding CarPlay completely changed how I use my car. Highly recommend it!

I went with a Dasaita Android head unit. It’s plug-and-play with adapters included and works with steering wheel controls and the center console scroll wheel (except for the twist feature).

Had it for a couple of years, and it’s handled Arizona’s 115° summers just fine. Downsides? No CD player, but most cars don’t have those anymore anyway.
